(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - The Patrick Henry Boys Cross Country Team is the 2008 Division One CIF Champions. The team had the highest score in the CIF (California Interscholastic Federation) division championship for the region on November 22nd at Morley Field in Balboa Park.
The team was evaluated based on both its overall performance and that of individual runners. Team member Adrian Rafiee won the race, finishing with a time of 16:08. Ryan Urie came in second place with a time of 16:15 and Kellen Blumberg finished fifth at 16.29. Other top finishers include Erik Figge finishing fourteenth at 16.49, Eddie Ramos finishing thirty-seventh at 17.25, Nick Tammadge coming in thirty-ninth at 17.27 and Nick Haines finishing forty-fifth at 17.36 in a race of over 150 competitors.
The score of each team’s top five finishing runners were added together to determine the top team, the Patrick Henry Team finished first with 59 points. The next closest finishing delegation was the team from Torrey Pines who came in second with a score of 70 points.
As a result the team had the opportunity to travel to Fresno to compete in the statewide cross-country championship where the team finished in 8th place for their division.
