(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - It has been a busy fall at Dailard with students, parents and staff. The year began with an interim principal, Darlene Cason, long-time Del Cerro resident and former Dailard teacher. Mr. Erpeldin, principal for 2 ½ years, returned to Poway School District. A new principal will be appointed by the Board of Education. Two teachers joined the 2008-09 Dailard staff, Erin Keegan, previously at E.B. Scripps and Frank Sanfilippo, taught at Whittier and is a graduate of Dailard School. Welcome to both of them.
The Parent Teacher Foundation (PTF) presented teachers in grades K-3 with an Apple laptop computer for their classroom. Upper grade teachers had received theirs in the spring. The D.A.D.S. (Dads Assisting Dailard Students) had a fantastic campout on the upper field on September 27th and 28th. Students and dads climbed Cowles Mountain, enjoyed a delicious barbeque, played a variety of games, watched a movie, slept in their tents and ended the campout the next day with hot chocolate. Over four hundred students, dads, grandpas and other family members had an incredible, memory-making campout.
The PTF Fall Festival was held on Saturday, October 25th with lots of food, games, pie-eating contest, cake decorating contest and of course a Cake Walk. This was following by the annual Halloween Parade on Friday, October 31st in the Court Yard.
