(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - The State of California, having finally concluded their budget process, has set May 19 as a Special Election for voters to approve the tax increases necessary to pay for that budget. Navajo Canyon Republican Women, Fed., urges everyone to put this election on your calendars and cast your vote! You must be registered to vote by Monday, May 4. If not already registered, you can register at our NCRWF booth at Spring Fest this Saturday, May 2.
As the economy sputters nationwide and in San Diego, the May 12 meeting of Navajo Canyon Republican Women, Fed., will take an in-depth look at manufacturing here in our county and nationwide. Our speaker is former club president and author, Michelle Nash-Hoff, whose book, Manufacturing in America, has recently been published. The outlook for jobs and growth in various sectors of the economy will be the focus of her presentation. Our meeting will begin at 11 am, followed by a full-course luncheon and speaker. We will conclude by 1:30 pm. Cost is $17. Location of the meeting is The Brigantine Restaurant in La Mesa, just off Rte 8 at the Fuerte exit. Please contact Marjie Siekerka at msiekerka@cox.net or at 619-990-2791 for information and reservations.
SpringFest in Allied Gardens is always a big event for us, and we hope you’ll stop by our booth to visit with us about current events, register to vote or even to join our club. We have added 22 new members already this year but are always eager to reach out to other Republican women who are concerned by some of the changes occurring and the level of debt being left for future generations. We are proud that club member Judy McCarty, former City Councilwoman, will have the honor of being Grand Marshall of the parade, due to her role in establishing this community event 10 years ago. Look for NCRWF in the parade too!
Our last regular meeting till the fall will be June 9 at The Brigantine, when our speaker will be June Darlene Bauer with her timely topic, “Host or Hostage?” This should be fun for those of us who have so many friends and families visiting us in the paradise we call San Diego. You’ll find us at the Del Mar County Fair registering voters on June 23, and we will be hosting our second evening meeting on July 14. We are extremely pleased that our speaker that night will be Jason Roe, Washington D. C. Insider and frequent contributor on the Fox News channel. We are looking forward to news from a direct source.
If you would like to take part in any of these activities, please contact Waskah Whelan, our membership chairman, at waskahwhelan@aol.com or at (619) 222-5268. See you at SpringFest!
