Identity Theft Is Focus of Meeting April 8

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Medical, financial, teen and deceased persons' identity theft will be the featured presentation at the regular meeting of the Navajo Canyon Republican Women, Fed. Tuesday, April 8, at The Brigantine Restaurant in La Mesa. Karen Barney, Communications Coordinator at the Identity Theft Resource Center, will also review how to protect oneself and how to recover from this all-too-common crime.

All Republican women are invited to the club's meeting, which begins at 11 am, followed by a full-course luncheon and the featured speaker. Please RSVP to dvt14303@yahoo.com (subject line: RSVP), or call Jodi at (619) 448-2922. Cost is $17.

Members were inspired at our March meeting by our speaker, Mr. Majur Malou of St. Luke's Refugee Network in San Diego. Having escaped from the genocide of Christians after an Islamic military coup in the Sudan, thousands of Sudanese refugees have been settled in San Diego. Mr. Malou, once a refugee and now a U.S. citizen, is teaching others how to live successfully in a free enterprise society.

The club was also a co-sponsor of a Republican Party debate for candidates to replace Congressman Duncan Hunter in the 52nd Congressional District.

As spring arrives, so do our special events. From April 20-22, several members will travel to Sacramento for an Advocacy Workshop; April 30 is the date for our annual Spring Fling - this year a Casino trip to Viejas. (Tickets are $35.) On May 2, NCRWF members will participate in Allied Gardens SpringFest and later that month we'll sponsor another Republican campaign forum to prepare for the June 3rd primary. For more information about the club, please
