Concert on the Green - Sunday, July 19th
Tifereth Israel Orchestra

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  The wonderful Tifereth Israel Community Orchestra, conducted by David Amos, will be performing its 5th annual Summer Pops outdoor concert on Sunday, July 19th at the Allied Gardens Community Park.  The free 90 minute concert will begin at 7:00pm and is the only outdoor concert that the orchestra performs.  Don't miss this opportunity to enjoy a summer evening filled with the sights and sounds of a truly first class concert orchestra.

This year the concert is sponsored by the Grantville Allied Gardens Kiwanis Club as a community service event for the enjoyment of our community.  Young and old alike will enjoy a program which will be loaded with Sousa marches such as Liberty Bell, King Cotton and Stars and Stripes Forever.  A "Pops Hoedown," a waltz from Carousel by Richard Rogers, and an Armed Forces medley will be featured.  There will be a couple of novelty surprises as well as music from the famous parade of the chariots in the Academy Award winning film Ben Hur.  Soprano Silvia Hartman will perform two vocal selections and we will be treated to the conclusion of the 1812 Overture with electronic cannons.

The 70 piece concert orchestra will perform from a bandstand with a great sound system and laser lighting to enhance the mood of the evening.  Come early; bring your family and friends, your lawn chairs and blankets, and get ready for an evening of musical bliss.  Light refreshments and drinks will be available at a snack bar benefiting the Patrick Henry High School music program.  You will not be disappointed in this not to be missed event, Summer Pops Concert on the Green.

As Conductor David Amos said, "This year's concert is full of popular favorites and will be enjoyed by children and adults alike.  We have a great deal of Americana on the program and there are tunes that will make everyone come out singing."
