ABOUT THE AUTHOR

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) -  The SpringFest committee, under the leadership of Chairwoman Sherry Kelly, is in full speed ahead mode in its preparations for the 11th annual Allied Gardens SpringFest celebration of the joys of living in our wonderful Navajo Community.  For the first time ever the event has been expanded to include another evening of music, carnival rides, food, fun and frolic.  Let the good times roll!!

Yes, once again, on Friday May 7th and Saturday May 8th, we will gather at the Allied Gardens Community Park for a weekend filled with the joys of springtime, sunshine, fresh air, good music, good food and drink, good friends and a good time for everyone. Mark your calendar and save the dates for this not to be missed community celebration.

There will be new exciting carnival rides this year for the thrill seekers, inflatables for the younger set, a rock climbing wall for the daredevils, food and drink for everybody, vendor booths will be displaying and selling almost anything you can imagine.  Civic organizations, churches, sports organizations will be on hand to spread the word about their activities in our community.

Did I mention music and dancing??  The fun will begin on Friday evening with a live concert by the US Air Force Band of the Golden West, "MOBILITY", from Travis Air Force Base; will be performing for your listening and dancing pleasures.   Food booths and the Beer and Wine Garden will be open for your dining and drinking pleasures. Throughout the day on Saturday there will be a variety of musical acts to entertain us on the Windmill Farms Stage.  Then, on Saturday evening another live musical concert featuring everybody's favorite, the sensational band, ROCKOLA will take the spotlight.  Again, the food booths and the Beer and Wine Garden will be open.

Don't miss the famous SpringFest Parade on Saturday and the Car Show during the day sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Grantville-Allied Gardens.  Pat Jordan, Parade Chairman and Luisa Jordan, Car Show Chairwoman, have been working hard to make the events bigger and better than ever before!

The Allied Gardens History Booth, under the leadership of Edie Odierno, will again be combined with the Kaiser Permanente  Historical display for your viewing pleasure.  The popular exhibits will be expanded with new material.

We must thank in advance our major sponsors of SpringFest: Windmill Farms, Kaiser Permanente Hospital, Allied Gardens Recreation Center Council, Grantville-Allied Gardens Kiwanis and MME Event Productions.  Without them there would be no SpringFest.  Many other local businesses and organizations contribute time and money to our event and are being enlisted as we speak.  Individual donations are encouraged as well.  On our website www.navajoevents.com you can click on SpringFest and scroll to the Pay Pal section to make a donation.  Help keep the spirit of SpringFest thriving in our community!
