The San Diego Food Bank has scheduled free food distribution at Ascension Lutheran Church, 5106 Zion Avenue, in the Allied Gardens community of San Diego, on the first Friday of each month: October 2, November 6, and December 4, 2009. Please use the Zion Avenue entrance. You do not need an appointment and all are welcome.

It is never known in advance what specific foods will be available for distribution, but they always include canned goods, and depending upon what the food bank has, may include fresh or frozen foods as well.

Families and individuals are invited to come to the church Fellowship Hall between the hours of 9:00 and 11:00am. It is best to come early, as the food tends to go very quickly. In addition, the church maintains a "kitchen pantry" which is available to those who have emergency needs inbetween the regularly scheduled Food Bank distribution dates. To set up an appointment for the kitchen pantry, please contact Emily at (619) 997-6598.
