Allied Gardens Community Council Report

I would like to express the Board's sincere appreciation to Don Teemsma, owner of Ideal Plumbing, for volunteering his time, materials and help over the years to maintain the Jacaranda Bowl irrigation system and other projects in our community.  The Jacaranda Bowl is located at the base of Waring Rd. and I-8 and is lined with trees that for a number of months were suffering from a lack of water due to broken water pipes and leaky valves.  Mr. Teemsma rebuilt some of the valves and made the other necessary repairs to the irrigation system. He also was able to get several new valves donated. With his continued help, the irrigation system at the Jacaranda Bowl is once again functioning properly, which allows the trees to remain a welcoming and beautiful site at the entrance to our community.

In adddition, Mr. Teemsma and his electricians helped to repair the Clock at the Triangle on Waring Rd. and Zion Ave.  Since December 2008, the Clock had ceased to function and it was becoming a very difficult problem to find someone willing to fix the mechanism.  AGCC Board members are sincerely grateful for his help to remedy this situation as well.

Our next Board meeting is on October 5 and will be held at the Ascension Lutheran Church on Zion Ave. The meeting begins at 7:00pm. The next Town Hall Meeting will be held on Nov. 24th at the same location and time. The main speaker for November will be Assemblymember Marty Block who represents the 78th District. His district encompasses the east side of the City of San Diego and the cities of La Presa, Lemon Grove, Spring Valley, and a portion of Chula Vista. I hope you will mark your calendar to attend both meetings.
