(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA). Carl DeMaio, president and founder of the Performance Institute, launched his campaign today for the San Diego City Council's 5th District seat. The kick-off announcement was made on the Roger Hedgecock Radio Program this afternoon.
"I share the frustration of my fellow citizens over the failures of our city government, yet I believe we can make change happen," said DeMaio. "I am running for the City Council to give San Diegans an open and accountable city government."
DeMaio has been a leader in bringing forward and implementing real solutions for addressing the problems that plague City Hall. Last year DeMaio helped spearhead the campaign to pass Mayor Sanders' Propositions B and C.
Calling into the show today to award his endorsement to DeMaio was Senator Tom McClintock.
"San Diego will be well-served by having Carl DeMaio on the City Council. As he has shown through his leadership in the past, Carl will be a voice of responsibility, integrity, and accountability in your city," said McClintock.
DeMaio added, "I'm proud and honored to receive the endorsement of my good friend and mentor Tom McClintock who is a true leader in fiscal reform. I plan on following in his footsteps in being the eyes and ears of the people."
The 5th City Council District will be an open seat in the 2008 election due to term limits. The district includes the communities of Carmel Mountain Ranch, Mira Mesa, Rancho Bernardo, Sabre Springs, San Pasqual, Scripps Ranch, and Sorrento Mesa.
