(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Every year, the Mission Valley East Rotary International sponsors students from Patrick Henry High to attend the RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Conference/Camp in Idyllwild, Calif. The student candidates, who are juniors, are given the opportunity to develop and practice leadership skills while interacting with students and community leaders from throughout Southern California.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - The Patrick Henry art classes are presenting a show at the Mission Trails Visitor's Center thru Friday, June 18th. The show, titled "Looking Forward", features work from Art 1-2, Photography 1-2 and AP Studio Art classes.

The Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor Center Gallery regularly features work from many of the region's top artists. Patrick Henry's art students are very fortunate to have the opportunity to have work presented in this wonderful venue. A reception for the show will be held Saturday, June 12th from noon until 3:00 pm. All are invited to attend.

Patrick Henry High School students Nicole Sala and Matthew Abrams are flanked by Grossmont Healthcare District (GHD) board members Jim Stieringer and Michael Emerson. GHD, a public agency that supports various healthrelated community programs and services, recently awarded scholarships to high school students interested in a healthcare career. Abrams and Sala were selected by school officials to receive a cash scholarship of $3,000 and $1,500, respectively. Overall, this year, GHD presented $76,500 in scholarship grants to 34 high school students from 17 schools, including PHHS. For more information about GHD, visit <a>www.grossmonthealthcare.org</a>.

Student Recognition
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Congratulations to Anna Kornfeld Simpson, one of 560 national finalists in the selection of Presidential Scholars, the highest national academic recognition sponsored by the Department of Education. Anna is an outstanding student whose many awards for math and science competitions have helped her to reach this academic recognition.
Ford Motor Company recently announced the 100 local student winners of their Salute to Excellence Program. Congratulations to the following Patrick Henry students who each won a $1,000 scholarship: Matthew Abrams, Miriam Melendez, Laura Redlinger, Ilse Sosa-Pineda, and Taylor Winchell.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Attention Henry High School Friends/Neighbors/Community - we need your help!  We are asking for a few hours of your time to assist on a Henry High Senior Exhibition Panel. 
The Senior Exhibition became a graduation requirement for all seniors in San Diego City Schools in 1998.  It is a presentation by the student of his/her educational accomplishments, community experiences, and college or work plans.  Seniors have the  opportunity to present before a panel of community/business persons, parents and teachers.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - The Patrick Henry High School Engineering and Design Academy held it's 5th annual Engineering, Math and Science Career Exploration Fair on March 3, 2010 at Henry High!. This event has grown since the first Career Fair was held in 2006.  Forty-five exhibitors participated in this event and over 400 students attended.

Air Band: Every year dance teams from among the Patrick Henry student body compete for a first, second and third place title! Come and enjoy the performance at Lewis Middle School on March 17, at 6:00pm.

Prom Dress Drive: Patrick Henry ASB will be collecting formal/semi-formal prom attire for homeless and disadvantaged students in the S.D. City Schools District that will be attending Prom. Collections began March 1st and end in mid-April at Patrick Henry; items can be dropped off in a collection bin in the front office or brought to the collection table in the quad at lunch.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - The San Diego Blood Bank will be coming to Patrick Henry High School on February 11th for a Blood Drive. Walk-ins are welcome!!! Patrick Henry High is located at 6702 Wandermere Drive off Park Ridge Blvd.
