(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Foster Elementary has officially been recognized as a California Distinguished School. Congratulations to the students, staff and Principal Dave Downey.

With spring upon us and the end of the school year rapidly approaching the students and staff at Foster have been hard at work. After spring break, the 4th and 5th grades attended OCILE, which is a program for off campus learning. The 5th graders spent the week in Balboa Park learning the history and taking in the beauty it has to offer. The 4th grade classes spent their week at Old Town.
In May, Foster will be hosting kindergarten orientations for new families who will be enrolling their students in the fall and for families who just want to check out all that Foster has to offer. The first grade classrooms will be performing Commotion in the Ocean On May 26th and showing off all of their hard work.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - We just received notice from the State that we have been nominated as one of 15 schools to move on to the final stage of the Distinguished School application process. It could not happen without all the amazing work that is done each day by the teachers, students, administrators, and employees on campus! A big congratulations goes out to everyone at Foster Elementary.

The PTA did a lot of fundraising in the beginning of the year and is now ready to help Foster be all that it can be! During the month of February the all school art classes will start up again. We will also be treated to a new mural or two around campus. We can't wait to see how they will continue to beautify our school and nurture our learning environment. As always, we need to give a big thank you to the PTA. Without their help and support we would not be able to be as successful as we are. The PTA is also always looking for new members.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - Congratulations to the staff, administration, and to the hard working students at Foster for qualifying for the 2010 California Distinguished School Program. Schools were chosen for their overall scores as well as for boosting achievement for all significant subgroups, based on categories that include ethnicity and socioeconomic status. Again, congratulations to everyone at Foster for all of their hard work.

There are always opportunities to get involved at Foster. Give the office a call and see how you can help. Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season!

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - We have had a great start to the year at Foster Elementary with so many things taking place.

As always the PTA has been busy supporting our school. In October the students were able to enjoy the Book Fair which included a fun filled family night. The Octoboofest Festival was a huge success as well. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this day wonderful. The second annual jog-a-thon took place on November 6th. The students did a great job and the enthusiasm could be felt by all. Every child participated by either walking or running during their designated 1/2 hour. Big kuddos to all the families, friends, and volunteers who not only helped monetarily but were there to cheer on and support all of the students. And of course a huge thank you to the PTA for supporting and setting up this event and without whom this event would not be possible.
