(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - Spring is popping out all over Mission Trails Regional Park. Mountains and meadows are green and lush, wildflowers blooming, the San Diego River rushing, waterfalls (seldom seen) are flowing. With over 6,000 acres and 40 miles of hiking and biking trails available to enjoy in one of America's largest natural urban parks, now is a great time for San Diegans to visit their Park, located only 15 minutes from the heart of the City.
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - Our Visitor Center is increasingly becoming a "Green Building" through the cooperation of the City of San Diego, a grant from SDG&E, and the expertise of San Diego Lighting Associates which has been serving San Diego for more than 20 years. The result will be a more efficient lighting system throughout the Visitor Center.
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, Ca) - What is an MTRP Trail Guide? It is a special volunteer trained to lead interpretive nature walks throughout the park, for both the general public and organized groups. Each year MTRP conducts a training program for people interested in learning about the natural and cultural history of the park and sharing that knowledge with the public.
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Four new interpretive signs have been placed along the Old Mission Dam Trail. These signs are designed to educate the public, as well as the hundreds of school groups that visit the site each year, about the importance of a constant source of water. The sign shown here explains the history of the dam, its function, and its importance to early Spanish settlers to the region. If you haven't been to Old Mission Dam in a while, now is the time. With the recent rains, the water level is high and flowers are beginning to bloom.
(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Sunshine and Shadow, an exhibition of photography by award winning San Diego artists Dana Levine and Jan Thompson, will be on display February 1 - 27, 2009, at Mission Trails Regional Park Visitor and Interpretive Center. The exhibition is free to the public.
