(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - Obesity is an epidemic.  An outsized share of our medical dollar is being spent on lifestyle related conditions such as high cholesterol, heart disease, elevated blood pressure, reflux disease, strokes, falls in the elderly, osteoporosis, etc.  (chronic disease related to poor lifestyle behaviors accounts for more than two thirds of deaths in the United States).  In light of this, we have been “attacking” the fat everywhere you turn without making a dent in the problem.  Why?  Because our focus is wrong.  We should be focusing on a better long - term solution.  We should be concentrating on building muscle in everyone rather than just losing weight.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego, CA) - As the baby boomer generation ages, seniors are quickly becoming the fastest-growing population of new epilepsy (recurring seizures) diagnosis. While the modern medical community has made great strides in properly identifying myriad behaviors in the elder population as epilepsy, many seniors continue to be mislabeled as suffering from dementia and/or other health issues.

(Mission Times Courier - San Diego, CA) - When adversity strikes, the last thing most people think to do is push the envelope. Would a double amputee aspire to run with the president of the United States? Would amom who had just nurtured her son through a bone marrow transplant for a rare form of leukemia decide to start a nonprofit organization?
