Back row, from l to r: Cristine Rose (TV, film and theatre actress, currently featured in "Heroes"); Terri Peterson Reed, Sharon Whitley Larsen, Terri Kallshian, Jeanene Malm Russell, Gretchen Hartnack Milligan.

(Mission Times Courier, San Diego Ca)  Sharon Whitley Larsen recently hosted another Phoebe Hearst reunion luncheon at her Del Cerro home for former elementary school friends and teachers!  The friends first met in 1959-60--in third and fourth grades (although Sharon and Jeanene Malm go back to kindergarten days at Oak Park Elementary in 1956).  The group has gathered every five years since 1989 for a reunion with their 4th and 5th grade teachers, Dr. Gail Guth and William Ponder,   also Del Cerro residents.  The friends come in from Tokyo, San Francisco, Santa Barbara, Las Vegas,   Los Angeles (only two still reside in San Diego).  Their careers include banking, flight attendant,   actress, freelance writer, university professor, teaching.  In addition, they’re grads of Stanford, UCSD, UCLA, and SDSU.

" And we were so thrilled when Mrs. Guth, our former 5th grade teacher, gathered us together and read us a story!  Just like the old days!  That brought back a lot of fun memories!”  Whitley Larsen said.
